Java Batik Expedition 2027

10 – 21 May, 2027

YOUR ULTIMATE 2027 JAVA ADVENTURE WITH LIKE MINDED LADIES

This is a fully guided tour with Wacky Jacky's Team as your host, where we are offering an exciting expedition into Java to experience the different side of Indonesia.

Wacky Jacky’s is happy to present our exciting expedition into Java to experience a different side of Indonesia. This is a once-in-a-lifetime trip and is a fully guided tour. Your host, Jacky, and her treasured offsider, Wayan, will be with you every step of the way to ensure a smooth and fun journey.

The trip starts by flying into Bali, with a one-night stop. The next day, we fly to Yogyakarta for two nights, with day trips to some of the most interesting sights in Asia. We will be staying in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta, which offers night markets, shops, and street stalls all within a short walk from the hotel.

We then move on to Surakarta, where the real fun begins. Here, you will make 50 metres of your own batik fabric, which can be broken down into 5-metre lots. You will choose your own colours and tjaps to create your personal designs while working alongside staff in a batik factory.

We will spend four nights in Surakarta, staying in a hotel located within one of the city’s larger shopping precincts. In addition to making our batik, we will visit a tjap maker (stamps used for batik), the famous batik lane, an antique market to purchase tjaps, and traditional batik factories where you can buy batik at amazing prices.

After our intensive four days in Surakarta, we will travel to a beautiful country town in the mountains for two nights, spending one day sightseeing and enjoying some well-earned downtime. On Day 10, we fly back to Bali and travel by bus to Candidasa.

The next two nights will be spent in Candidasa, giving you time to relax and unwind after ten full days of travel.

This will be a trip you will never forget. Be quick to secure your place before it sells out — positions are strictly limited.

What You Need to Bring

Extra Luggage

Since shopping is guaranteed, you need lots of space in the luggage! 😜

For the same reason, I also suggest you to get extra baggage for your flight back home, as airlines can be strict with their luggage regulation.

However, if it still exceeds, we can help arrange shipping at your own cost.

Patterns and Samples

Bring your favourite patterns for quilting/any textile projects so you can preplan your fabric shopping.

Since we also offer tailoring services, you can also bring your favourite dress/tops/bottoms as samples for our tailors.

Cash and Cards

- You will need spending money for lunch, dinners, drinks, souvenirs, optional tours and shopping days etc.

- Though not all, most places accept cards in Bali (like in my shop and cafe). I suggest bringing a little bit of cash (AUD$1000) and converting in Bali International Airport or on arrrival into Candidasa, or you can lend some from me to be paid back later. Plenty of
money changers in Candidasa.

- Avoid converting it in the Australian airport – as exchange rate is low.

Suggested Attires

Loose, cooling clothes as Bali can get both hot and humid.

Bathers for swimming and beach days.

Flip-flops and good walking shoes for our adventure.

Last but not least, your sunscreen. I suggest the non-stick one so you can wear it all over your face and body.

Sense of Humour

Sense of humour and easygoing approach to the Balinese people as they are one of the friendliest people on earth and really like to talk to guests.
