East Meets West Fusion with Helen Godden

28 July to 8 August 2025

AWARD-WINNING EXTREME MOTION QUILTER IS COMING TO WACKY JACKY'S RETREATS

A fully-guided tour with Helen Godden, an Extreme Free-Motion-Machine Quilter, as your tutor and Jacky Wyatt from Wacky Jacky’s Textiles as your host.

Wacky Jacky's is delighted to announce that we are bringing back to you our "Helen Godden Retreat" due to popular demand. Helen Godden has received multiple international and national quilting awards for her innovative quilts.

She is also the Handi Quilter Ambassador for the Sweet Sixteen quilting machines, as well as the Capri and Amara Stationary machines more recently.

This is a unique opportunity to experience the fusion of two artistic powerhouses from two worlds apart. We have combined the amazing talents of the multiple international award-winning Helen Godden with one of Bali’s most famous batik artist instructors, Nyoman Warta, to take you on inspirational journey where you will discover new techniques and learn valuable insights from the industry’s best.

Your experience will begin with Helen taking you on a cultural photographic expedition to stir up your creative juices and guide you through the process of how to apply your inspiration to your project.

Helen will combine her talents in visual arts and free-motion quilting with the traditional art of Balinese tjanting from Nyoman to teach you a truly unique art form that few have ever seen.

This is a limited space only Retreat – so get in quick and book.

Flying into Bali

- Return flights from your home country to Bali are not included in this retreat.

- Please be aware that the first day of your retreat and the last day of your retreat are travel days. For example, if a retreat starts on 4 May to 16 May, you have to fly in on 4 May, and 16 May is the day you fly out.

- When booking, please aim to land in Bali early afternoon on your first day, and exit Bali in the early evening / late night on the last day.

- If you wish to fly in earlier be sure to book your own accommodation in Sanur – as Wacky Jacky’s does not book for you.

What You Need to Bring

Extra Luggage

- Since shopping is guaranteed, you need lots of space in the luggage! 😜

- For the same reason, I also suggest you to get extra baggage for your flight back home, as airlines can be strict with their luggage regulation.

- However, if it still exceeds, we can help arrange shipping at your own cost.

Patterns and Samples

- Bring your favourite patterns for quilting/any textile projects so you can preplan your fabric shopping.

- Since we also offer tailoring services, you can also bring your favourite dress/tops/bottoms as samples for our tailors.

Cash and Cards

- You will need spending money for lunch, dinners, drinks, souvenirs, optional tours and shopping days etc.

- Though not all, most places accept cards in Bali (like in my shop and cafe). I suggest bringing a little bit of cash and converting it in Candidasa, or you can lend some from me to be paid back later. Plenty of money changers in Candidasa.

- Avoid converting it in the airport as it may delay the group's collective arrival.

Suggested Attires

- Loose, cooling clothes as Bali can get both hot and humid.

- Bathers for swimming and beach days.

- Flip-flops and good walking shoes for our adventure.

- Last but not least, your sunscreen. I suggest the non-stick one so you can wear it all over your face and body.

Sense of Humour

- Sense of humour and easygoing approach to the Balinese people as they are one of the friendliest people on earth and really like to talk to guests.

With Helen Godden as your tutor,

And me, Jacky, as your host, with my beautiful Bali team to assist you.
